Monday, November 10th, 2008The 24th of November is the magic number. That is when I detach here and the family heads to Tennessee and Indiana on leave before heading to Okinawa for 3 years. We have already sold the Ford Explorer this weekend and all the planets seem to be aligned since we had two couples look at the house today and both are very, very interested.
Getting rid of the Explorer was like giving away and old dog or something. We have had that vehicle since 1999. It is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. In 10 years I have never had one major issue with it. Changed the oil, tune ups and tires, that is it.
Heading Out on Our Okinawa Journey
Saturday, November 8th, 2008So it looks like we will be mvoing away on the 24th. Yea, I know, that came pretty quick. It all hinged off the flight windows out of Seattle and LA to Okinawa. Since we are traveling there during the Christmas and New Years holiday season, flights are packed and in a 10 day flight window they could only find us one flight to Seattle in those ten days. We also had a hard time finding a flight to Seattle from Raleigh.

Hurricane Hanna and 13 Year Old Boys
Sunday, September 7th, 2008So Hannah has blown over and did very little damage in our area. I have a few shingles to replace on the roof, but other than that, all is good here.
But today Hurricane Gannon struck. A hurrincane of the 13 year old male persuasion. Hormones blazing, had a major melt down and required some father son talking. Overall he is a really good kid and does very well in school and out of school.
House is on the Market
Saturday, August 16th, 2008After all the little “honey do’s” around the house, we have it on the market. That makes us one more step closer to Okinawa.
We all are actually starting to look forward to it. The last time I was there was 1992-1993 and things have changed a lot from what I hear.
Kim has been real busy getting the house ready and did most of the work preparing it for sale. Got to love her, she is the work horse of the family.
Gannon is signed up for soccer again and we are just awaiting the phone call to find out what team he is on.
The Funk and Olympics
Sunday, August 10th, 2008I have been in a little bit of a funk lately. Not sure why though. However I am out of it and putting my brain back to work. Let some things slide the last week or so because we have been jumping thorugh the hoops to get all the overseas screening stuff done. Hopefully this week will be different and I can get caught up on some of the websites and blogs as well as touch base with some customers.
Okinawa Bound
Sunday, August 3rd, 2008This week has been crazy. There have been lots of things going on at work and at home.
Anyway, we have orders to Okinawa Japan. The family is really looking forward to it and they may actually make me catch on to their enthusiasm. Have to start getting the house ready for the market as well as dealing with the checklist required to go to Okinawa.
We just registered Gannon for his last season of soccer here in Onslow County. Hopefully it will be a good ending for his Onslow county soccer playing.
Hancock, Bulldog and the Parakeets
Monday, July 21st, 2008I took my oldest son to see the movie Hancock this weekend. I am little disappointed. The first part of the movie was ok, but I did not like how they tried to smash Hancock’s past life into the last 20-30 minutes of the movie. I think they could have used it better and kept the history stuff for a follow-on or sequel.
So basically I came away with a Superman meets the Highlander feeling.
Richard Petty Museum and more…
Monday, July 14th, 2008Our trip to Asheboro North Carolina was very enjoyable. The next morning after visiting the zoo we took a quick trip north to Randleman, North Carolina and took in the Richard Petty museum. For racing fans this is a must see. It is a nice little museum containing pictures, trophies, real cars actually used in races and even The King’s personal collection of various memorabilia. It ALMOST had me interested in watching racing again.
North Carolina Zoo and Asheboro,NC
Thursday, July 10th, 2008The family is in Asheboro North Carolina for an early weekend. We needed some time alone together as a family. We have had people in and out of the house for almost a month straight and just needed to get away, especially Kim.
Anyway we arrived here this morning and went to the NC Zoo. Amazing Zoo, but you better bring your walking legs as it has over 5 miles worth of trails. You may also want to get there early in the morning and visit the animal you want to see most first thing. As it gets hotter the animals seem to head for shade and it is harder to see them.
