Happy New Years and Okinawa Aquarium

New Years Eve morning, up at 6am and sucking down coffee. I am not a Starbucks addict like some. In fact I have only had Starbucks coffee a handful of times, but Kim received some Starbucks in a gift basket a couple weeks ago and since then I have been hooked. No, I haven’t lost my mind or become a cellphone, caffee latte welding asshole, but I do like the Starbucks in MY coffee maker.

Pig Flu, Mobsters and Gum-Gum for Dumb-Dumb

Got up this Tuesday morning and had to go into work just to get my swine flu vaccination. It was made mandatory for all of us to get the H1N1 shot so we don’t come down with piggy flu. Other than that, I did not do anything else except update some websites. I watched the Vikings vs. Bears, but that really doesn’t count as doing anything productive.

Kim used her gift certificate for the spa today and when she made it home, made some breaded shrimp for dinner. After dinner we watched a movie titled Staten Island. It was a little different spin on the mobster movies, I would say it was worth the rental fee.

Okinawa Kids Zoo

We went to the local zoo ran by the Okinawa Kids Discovery Kingdom Foundation here Sunday and it was a good time.

Kim had been telling me how she didn’t like the exhibits for some of the larger animals. I didn’t think they were too bad, however I thought the size of the hippo area was small and noticed the lack of grass or dirt in the bigger cat areas. I took some pretty good photos, or at least I thought they were good.

Avatar, Football and…Physical Therapy?

Took a couple days leave last week and will taking some time this week as well. Really enjoying the time with the family around the house. Christmas was good, the boys enjoyed their gifts and Kim and I enjoyed their smiles.

We purchased two movies and went to see one movie this weekend. We purchased Night at the Museum 2 and District 9. Night at the Museum 2 was funny and a really good time to watch with Gavin. District 9 was a little disappointing. I expected more from a movie that had so much hype to the trailers and website. However the irony of the movie being set in Johannesburg did not escape me and in fact it seems to be the main point the movie is trying to drive home. Like the movie makers are trying to open a somewhat healed wound or something.

Sickness, Pot Luck, Coloring and Tours

This last week has been uneventful as usual. Work is, well, work and does not seem to change much lately from day to day. However that will be changing here in the next couple off months as well start building out a new network infrastructure. Will be attending CCNA training for two weeks starting 4 January. Hopefully before the end of the year I can knock out CCNA and Server+ at a minimum.

The Press and One Last Wish

Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and a tough old U.S. Marine Sergeant were captured by terrorists in Iraq . The leader of the terrorists told them he’d grant each of them one last request before they were beheaded and dragged naked through the streets.

Katie Couric said, ’Well, I’m a Southerner, so I’d like one last plate of fried chicken.’

The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the
chicken. Couric ate it all and said, ‘Now I can die content.’

Don’t Worry About Jesus

…he can take care of himself. I just wish Christmas and christians weren’t so commercial and churches and christians weren’t so fake. If we just worried about doing the little things all would be good. Next time we are in church, look at those fancy big screen TVs, those wild sound systems, the fancy trimmings around your church, and ask yourself, how many families could that feed, how many homeless vets could that get back on their feet.

Received the below from my Sis in-law Sherri. For those that know me, it may look like things we have talked about in the past, but I promise you I did not write this.

Soccer Weekend with Gingerbread Houses

This week was somewhat uneventful. Had to get some test with the doctors and deal with the butt pain of trying to schedule appointments with people that have a hard tme understanding me and I understanding them. The phone conversation to set up my appointments must be entertaining for anyone who overhears them. It more than likely osunds like a bad Abbot and Costello routine. Other than that, the boss was out, so things were a little busy a work, more than usuall, so I had some late nights beyond the usual 5:30 to 6pm days. No big deal as those are still good hours. After doing this job for a few years, I consider anything under 16 hours a day pretty damn good.

Another I received via e-mail:

An early update regarding Christmas
in our nation’s capital for 2009.

I wanted to leak the story early
so everyone fully understands.
There will be no Nativity Scene in Washington D.C. this year!

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity
Scene in the United States Capital this Christmas season.
This isn’t for any religious reason.
They simply have not been able to find
Three Wise Men in the Nation’s Capital…

A search for a Virgin continues…
