Spring…not here yet!

The past couple weekends have been uneventful. We have the usual soccer games on the weekend for Gannon. His team seems to be doing well again this season and so far is undefeated with two games left for this fall season. We plan on a couple camps for him this spring and summer. He is not to enthusiastic about the fitness program I am putting him on, but I am not going to let him turn into an X-box, cheetos eating little junkie.

Of course dad doesn’t have much room to talk. My waste line seems to be expanding wider than rosy O’Donnell’s mouth. Either way…we are both going to be getting fitter and healthier in a safe manner that takes into account his youth and my bad back.

Kim is looking as beautiful as ever and is still cleaning up after her little piggies.

Lots of lawn work to do when it starts to warm up and stays warm. The weather here has been crazy. One day it is warm and the next it is cold as all get

out and the weatherman and paper don’t have a stinking clue.

Anyway, not much else to talk about for now. Just staying busy with websites and stuff.

Tired Week-Soccer Double

This week was one of those weeks that seemed to go by very fast come Friday, but during the week seems to be crawling along. Almost everyday this week I woke up around 3 AM for absolutely no reason whatsoever. So by Friday I was super tired.

Gannon had two soccer games this week end, one was a make up for a rain out earlier in the season. They played a Richlands team on Saturday and New Bern team on Sunday. They won both games by a great deal. The first was like 12-0 and second was something like 7-1.

Gavin is getting the potty thing down real good and is starting to ask to go when we are out in public, but seems to not be interested when we are home. He is a real smart kid and is doing well in all his learning activities here at home. Good thing this isn’t California since parents are not allowed to educate their children anymore…sorry, that is a little biased. Parents can’t home school in California anymore unless they are certified teachers.

Kim is hooking it up on Lejeune Yard Sales and selling a lot of our used stuff that no longer fits the kids or we no longer use. Lejeune Yard Sales is a website very similar to E-bay, but focused on the Camp Lejeune/Jacksonville area. This site is a real nifty invention of a local here and it is a tremendous success. This is a niche site operating at its very best. Great marketing scheme, word of mouth, and simple functionality, they found a niche and strangled it.

We don’t have much else to talk about this week. I would sure like to hear how your weeks are going. Feel free to drop an e-mail or comment here and let us know.

Nintendo Wii and Gone Fishing

So we have another week down in the Brochin household and a new one waiting right around the corner.

This week has been packed with loads of fun. At work I have been working the fielding of the Phoenix terminal to our unit. This has been an ongoing project for me since November and it is almost at an end.

On the home front the family broke down and purchased a Nintendo Wii. For those that are not video game lovers like me, this is a nice. It allows some good interaction with the family. It is probably the modern day substitution for the board games of the past. Be careful because my shoulder is sore from pitching and bowling.

It rained real hard again this weekend so Gannon’s soccer game was cancelled. The season is almost 5 weeks old and they have played only one regular game…it is ridiculous that they don’t play in the rain or on wet fields like other sports. Then again maybe it is a safety and liability issue for the leagues.

Not much else to chat about for now, see you all soon…maybe not…fishing will start soon for Joe….

Have a good one. Enjoy Bill Dance…one of my favorites..

Family Time Fun and NASCAR Stinks

What a title for this weeks post, eh?

Well, that about sums up my week or the last two weeks since my last post.

We had a nice family outing on Saturday the 23rd. Bowling was the name of the game and it was entertaining to say the least. Gavin is still in the process of getting the potty thing done and still has accidents. He decided to have one of these accidents while we where bowling. No big deal as I am not a bowler, in fact when I bowl it is more like a shot putter throwing a ball on a wooden field. Most folks will turn their head when I let a bowling ball loose down the isle. Imagine Shrek bowling…nuff said!

We spent most of the day Sunday horsing around on the computer and the house that weekend. Gannon was supposed to have two games on this weekend 23-24, but Saturday’s game was cancelled because of the rain the night before and the “poor” condition of the field. Funny thing is that that field is the only one in the league that had games cancelled. Not sure why they couldn’t try to squeeze them in at another field. There game Sunday was a go and they played terribly the first half, but played a little better after the half and pulled out the win 3-1.

Of course the NASCAR race was delayed and needless to say, I didn’t care. That makes me think, if it is “needless to say” why do we say it? Not sure…anyway…

This weekend brought another wonderful time with the family. Saturday (1 Mar) we visited the Onslow County Museum and Lynwood Park Zoo, which is a small private zoo. The Onslow County Museum is a small museum that is attached to the library. It is small, but it is a must visit for any new resident that wants to learn about the history of their new home. The Linwood Park Zoo as a step up from a petting zoo. They had baboons and Scottish Highland Cows along with various South American animals. They even had Wallabies. It has been too cold for the reptiles so those where not on display, however the care taker was AWESOME. He stopped us along the trail and pulled some of the newborn animals out for our kids to pet, to include a large tortoise. Gavin didn’t care too much for the tortoise however. We ended the day with a late lunch at Fuddruckers.

Today it looks like we may be getting on the Nintendo Wii bandwagon. I will let you know how that runs out. I will be getting out and taking care of some weeds growing around the house. It has been cold enough to kill the grass, but the weeds are thriving and makes the yard look like butt. The likelyhood that I watch a raise is slim to none, especially after hearing about last weeks idiocy from NASCAR. Nascar and baseball, they both need to be done away with and reformed with some better rules and for baseball much lower wages… in my opinion.

Anyway, have a good week and bless ya all.
